Lawn Care FAQs

Will you fertilize the lawn every visit?

That depends  on many things! According to Cornell University recommendations, a lawn needs 3-4 lbs of nitrogen per 1000 sq. ft. per year. The best times to fertilize are immediately after major flushes of growth and late fall. We decide where and when to fertilize on an individual basis when we assess the lawn based on your soil type, watering habits, and the look of the lawn.

What else is included in my full program?

Weed control, pre-emergence crabgrass control, and grub control as needed, plus additional service calls.

Why does my bill reflect the full price if you don't treat the whole lawn every time?

When estimating your property, we calculate the cost of your year's service and divide by the number of installments in your program to get your billing amount. What you are paying us for is not just products applied to the lawn but also your technician's horticultural knowledge and judgment. Using the principles of Integrated Pest Management, we treat only when and where necessary to keep your lawn looking good.

I have a question/concern but you're not due back here for several weeks. What should I do?

ALWAYS feel free to call our office at 585-424-4476 or 1-877-4LAWNCARE, whether to leave a message for your technician to call you, to schedule a service call, to ask a billing or horticultural question, or just to say hi.

Will 1 or 2 treatments take care of my weeds?

Not likely. Good weed control takes a full season of monitoring and treating. A partial program will knock them back, but can't eliminate them all.

Remember, watering and mowing properly are essential to a beautiful lawn!
